POST CARD FROM KEY WEST, FLORIDA

Rebecca Fordham

So far, we have enjoyed a spectacular summer, and it's not over yet…so we are heading south, past Miami, to one of our favorite places, Key West, Florida. August is a busy month for us on this island; we will have a pop-up shop on August 11 during Lobster Fest on Duval Street.

Key West is a place after our own hearts where the lifestyle is very laid back, with quirky local restaurants, art galleries, museums and a natural environment where flip flops are the formal footwear anywhere and anytime of the day.

Whether you're an active traveler or just an armchair traveler, pack a bag and join us as we chronicle our favorite haunts on this island we love. If you have never been to this island in the sun, consider this your starting point and pocket resource for a memorable trip to Key West.

WHERE WE LIKE TO STAY IN KEY WEST:

The Saint Hotel located at 417 Eaton Street is a charming sanctuary in the heart of Key West and is our favorite place to stay. This boutique hotel has has 37 beautifully appointed rooms and is within walking distance to everything you would ever want during your visit.  Also, during Lobsterfest, it's only steps away from the Caloosa WaterWear booth, located on the corner of Eaton and Duval Streets.

OUR FAVORITE PLACES TO EAT:

Blue Heaven is one of the most casual restaurants in Key West located in the historic Bahama village at 729 Thomas Street. We enjoy the fabulous American, Caribbean and vegetarian cuisine offered al fresco…under canopies of tropical foliage, where chickens and cats roam free and whimsical art is scattered around the property. Live musical entertainment at lunch and dinner is provided daily. Check this restaurant out, you will not be disappointed but we suggest you call ahead because they do close for a month of vacation.

Harpoon Harry’s is a favorite diner that locals favor. We found this little gem several years ago…it's located a block from the Historic Seaport district at 832 Caroline Street and is open from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. where they offer comfort style food at reasonable prices…be aware this restaurant only accepts CASH. You may have to wait for a table or counter seat, but it is well worth it.

WHAT TO WEAR WHEN VISITING KEY WEST:

Don't worry, Caloosa has got you covered…stay comfortable and look ever so chic in one of our racerback tank tops with an authentic Caloosa design printed on the front of the flowy scoop neck tank when you explore Key West by foot, bicycle or moped. We love the fact that our tank tops take little packable storage so you have room for all the souvenirs you bring home. Our tanks give you endless options no matter where your day takes you. We have had many requests for a smaller size, so we now carry extra-small sizing.

Be happy and explore Key West…where you live simply!

Wish you were here…Love,

Caloosa Water Wear
