3 WAYS TO CLEAN THE OCEAN AND WHERE YOU CAN FIND US THIS JUNE

Rebecca Fordham

June is right around the corner and that can only mean one thing....
SUMMER IS COMING!
Whether you live down the street from a beach or have plans this summer for a relaxing visit, there are 3 easy and FUN things you can do to help keep the beach and ocean clean and beautiful:

1.

Wear Sun Protective Clothing Instead of Sunscreen

Saturday June 1st is - World Reef Day - a day that came about to educate the dangers of using sunscreen in the ocean.  When swimming in the ocean, be sure to use a sunscreen that does not harm the sealife that make up the coral reefs. Better yet, you can wear one of our UPF 30+ rated Ultra Comfort Shirts on the beach and in the water

2.

Join a Beach Clean Up

Sunday June 2nd is our annual beach clean up with Spodak Dental Group.  If you are in the area, please join us at South Lifeguard Tower 5 which is located on A1A, across from Anchor Park in Delray Beach.  Caloosa WaterWear will be offering a shade tent to help you stay cool during the event.  For more info, check out our Facebook event.  If you can't join us, please help to pick up trash on the beach whenever you visit.  Just put a bucket or reusable water proof bag in your car and fill it with any plastic you come across while you are enjoying your day.

3.

Learn about the Ocean Eco System and Help Eliminate Invasive Species

Saturday June 8th is World Oceans Day, a day that celebrates the ocean and everything it offers to sustain life.  This year we have launched a new design called "Eat Lionfish"  Lion fish are an invasive species that have very few known natural predators in the Atlantic Ocean.  They breed at an alarming rate and are destroying our coral reefs.  Our new design is a call to action to help get the Lionfish population under control.  They make an excellent ceviche and taste like a cross between hog snapper and grouper.

Where to find us in June:

Saturday June 15th is the Loggerhead Marinelife Center's 8th Annual Run for the Sea.  This event celebrates ocean conservation and endangered Sea Turtles.  You can sign up for a 4 mile run, a 1 mile kids fun run or a virtual run.  Whatever the case, stop by and join the post-race celebration complete with vendors, kids activities and breakfast.  The Caloosa WaterWear pop up shop will be there celebrating too!
Sunday June 16th is FATHER's DAY!  We have an incredible sale on our Fishing Shirts plus a FREE gift.  This special is good until June 15th...and you can learn more about that HERE.
Friday June 21 is the longest day of the year and the 1st day of SUMMER!   We hope you find yourself spending lot of time in and on the water during these hot days.
Stay Cool and Enjoy!
